Quiltworx University - Montana 2026 - Ready, Set, Plan Your Projects!

Ready, Set, Plan Your Projects!

Hello everyone! We’re beyond excited about this upcoming retreat, and the beautiful design options Judy and Brad have created especially for you! We’re pleased to present your exclusive project, which features exciting NEW blocks and layouts for the Paradise in Blooms Mixer series which can be purchased for this workshop through Quiltster or the onsite shop hosted by Quiltworx.

⚠️IMPORTANT⚠️

Because of the size and complexity of the project and the class, students MUST work on only the Paradise in Blooms Mixer for this event.

Quiltworx University – Montana 2026

You can always find past correspondence and information about this event on the Quiltworx website here: https://new.quiltworx.com/quiltworx-university-montana-2026/

To keep up to date on what’s happening for this retreat and to communicate with fellow attendees and our hosts, please join the Quiltworx University Montana 2026 Facebook group.

PLAN YOUR PROJECT!

Planning your Quiltworx University project offers three exciting paths, each tailored to different quilting preferences and levels of customization.

OPTION 1 – BRING YOUR OLD PARADISE IN BLOOMS PATTERNS: If you’d like to bring the original Paradise in Blooms to this event, you’re welcome to do so. This is our first event without a pre‑published pattern where you can select your own fabrics, so bringing the older version is perfectly fine. Please note that you’ll be responsible for all of your own cutting, and some demonstrations may not align exactly with the instructions in your pattern. Instructors will be available during off times to help if something isn’t lining up. Overall, you should still be able to work successfully on your original Paradise in Blooms if that’s the project you’d like to bring.

Otherwise, you’ll need to purchase a kit (Option 2).

OPTION 2 – CHOOSE A PRE-DESIGNED KIT: For those who prefer a streamlined experience, this option provides pre-designed kits cut down to strips, exclusively created for this event. These Paradise in Blooms Mixer kits offer a variety of curated designs, eliminating the need for fabric selection or pattern customization. As part of your enrollment, you will receive a six-month Quiltster account, which is essential for purchasing your kit. This option is perfect for quilters who want a beautifully coordinated project without the extra work of choosing individual elements.

OPTION 3 – DESIGN YOUR OWN CUSTOM QUILT:  This option offers the ultimate creative freedom, allowing you to design your own custom quilt. Through Quiltster’s platform, you can mix and match blocks, select fabrics from Quiltworx’s collection, and even explore four different quilt sizes for a fully personalized project. Your six-month Quiltster subscription enables you to experiment with endless combinations, or, for additional guidance, you can consult Judel Niemeyer for a design fee to refine your vision. This option is ideal for those who love innovation and want their quilt to be truly one-of-a-kind.

⚠️IMPORTANT⚠️

Yardage and purchasing options are not available yet. We’re working to have them ready by early July. Until then, no need to worry about yardage details or fabric availability!

PARADISE IN BLOOMS (ORIGINAL DISCONTINUED VERSION)

Because these blocks and concepts are entirely new, we won’t have time to pre‑publish materials for those who prefer to choose their own fabrics. For this event, you’ll need to purchase a kit unless you plan to bring your original Paradise in Blooms.

If you’d like to work on the original version, you’re absolutely welcome to bring it. Just keep in mind that you’ll be responsible for all of your own cutting, and some demonstrations may not align exactly with your pattern’s instructions. Instructors will be available during off times to help if something isn’t lining up, and overall, you should still be able to make steady progress on your original Paradise in Blooms.

This new project is a major design undertaking—one we’re developing alongside the new Technique of the Month—so offering pre‑release options simply isn’t possible this time. We can promise, though, that what we’re unveiling represents some of the most exciting design work we’ve ever created (in our humble opinion 😉).

Paradise in Blooms Mixer Kits

If selecting blocks and fabrics feels overwhelming, we’ve got you covered with exclusive fabric kits designed by Judel Niemeyer—available only to event attendees.

By choosing this option, we’ll cut and label the kits into the strips needed to begin the workshop lessons with Judy and her Instructors. You’ll then cut out your papers, place the paper templates on the fabric, and cut the units apart on the designated cut lines—following the guidance your instructor provides before you begin sewing.

To order, locate your desired kit in Quiltster by clicking on Quilt Planner from your Dashboard. Scroll down to the bottom and click the blue Enter button next to Quiltworx University Montana 2026 to begin. Open the project by clicking Customize, give it a name, and save it to your account.

Hold onto your project and refine it as much as you like until ordering opens early July, 2026. We’ll send out an announcement when it’s time! Once ordering is live, simply click Add to Cart, follow the checkout process, and your kit will be ready for the event. Choose one—or more—of the inspiring designs!

Meet Your Instructors

One of the greatest joys of an event this size is the opportunity to bring together an extraordinary team of talent under one roof. Joining Judy in the classroom will be three hand-picked Quiltworx Certified Instructors — each one passionate, experienced, and genuinely excited to work with you. Together, they’ll guide you through every block of the exclusive project, offering personalized attention and support every step of the way. And here’s an extra incentive to spread the word: if we reach our goal of 70+ attendees, we’ll be bringing in a fourth instructor to round out this already incredible teaching team. The more the merrier — in every sense!

Judy Niemeyer

Kalispell, MT

The creative force behind Quiltworx, Judy Niemeyer has spent decades transforming foundation paper piecing into an art form loved by quilters around the world. At Quiltworx University, she brings her expertise, warmth, and infectious enthusiasm directly to you — teaching alongside the team, sharing her techniques, and making sure every single student leaves inspired.

Michele Everts

Fort Laramie, WY

Michele Everts is a Judy Niemeyer Certified Instructor from Fort Laramie, Wyoming, whose quilting journey began with a heartfelt mission — to make something her newborn son could treasure for life. That first quilt sparked a passion that has never slowed down, leading her to complete over 60 Judy quilts and counting. Known for her warm, upbeat energy and personal attention to every student, Michele’s greatest joy in the classroom is watching the smile spread across a student’s face when they step back and realize what they’ve just created.

Anna Gardner

Garden Valley, ID

Anna Gardner is a self-described color enthusiast and co-owner of Stitch n’ Snip, a beloved destination quilt shop nestled in the mountains of Garden Valley, Idaho — where over 2,000 batiks await the perfect project. A passionate paper piecer with a special love for Judy Niemeyer designs, Anna has a gift for making even the most intricate techniques feel fun and approachable, sending her students home with new skills, fresh confidence, and a smile. When she’s not in the classroom, she’s perfecting Quiltworx kits with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring every quilter has everything they need to succeed.

Carin Brimley

Duvall, WA

Carin is a Quiltworx Certified Instructor from Duvall, Washington, who has been sewing since childhood — a journey that began with doll clothes, detoured through her own wedding dress, and ultimately landed her in passionate, joyful obsession with foundation paper piecing. She fell hard for Quiltworx patterns in 2019 and hasn’t looked back since, completing over 100 quilts and drawing color inspiration from everything around her. Known for her vibrant, humor-filled teaching style and endless patience, Carin has a gift for making Quiltworx techniques feel approachable and fun — and she’ll be the first to tell you she has a serious crush on “smart corners.”

NEW! Vida Anderson

Vilonia, AR

Vida is a Certified Instructor from Missoula, Montana who began sewing apparel until she discovered the joy of quilting using Quiltworx patterns in 2021. Vida loves teaching and whether it’s Quiltworx or Creative Studio for Gammill Statler users, she is known for being a very patient and inspiring teacher. She loves teaching so much that on a recent teaching tour through the southern states, she accepted a position as education coordinator for a quilt shop in Vilonia, Arkansas where she and her husband are now relocating and where she will be teaching full time offering a full array of Quiltworx classes in person and online.

Congo Star was my Oct 2024 Quiltworx University retreat project which was held in beautiful Kalispell, MT. Almost all of the fabrics are Tim Holtz. I colored my project in Quiltster. I quilted it on my Babylock Crown Jewel, all hand guided & ruler work. The backing is a wide back batik I got at the Quilt Gallery in Kalispell! This quilt is my son’s 2024 Xmas present, a little late! He has lived in MT for over 14 years now. My sister, Karen Preusser, was with me at the retreat. She spotted an eagle through the windows at the retreat center! I never thought I might enjoy some eagle watching during a quilting retreat!
