Craft, sewing, sewing machines have been in my life for as long as I can remember. Nan, Grandma and Mum were always making something, generally clothing. My first memory of sewing is making dolls clothes. Over the years this progressed to mainly clothes and basic patchwork. Being a full-time primary school teacher kept me busy and so the sewing machine became a distant memory. Life throws up many challenges and after one of the more difficult times, I bought a new, more reliable sewing machine. I had seen Quiltworx quilts and retreats…these looked like a new and exciting challenge. Eventually I was able to attend one, wow, complex, precise work, that just worked, I was hooked. The patterns contained many elements, this allowed me to work on a project whatever my current mindset was. There were challenges that really need to be thought about, through to repetitive piecing after a hard day. A few projects on, I felt this was something I could share with other people, support them to achieve their own masterpieces. So began, my journey to certification with Quiltworx. Having completed my certification and changes in my world, I am able to focus on my projects and support others to learn, enjoy and create their own creative masterpieces.
