Julie comes from a large family of creative and artistic women. At the age of 14, she made her first patchwork quilt. Following a career as a paralegal, she mastered her design capabilities and pattern writing skills while working for a quilt shop. She also assisted, guided, and encouraged customers to make their own fabric choices, and because she’s taught at numerous quilt retreats over the years, she naturally developed a client base who love and follow her.
In 2015 Julie was gifted her first longarm, launching her into a new world. While searching Pinterest in 2016 for quilting inspiration, Julie stumbled upon Judy Neimeyer’s Vintage Rose Quilt, fell in love and a new passion for foundation paper-piecing was born. Julie jumped right in with Star Baby, Ice Castles, Fire Island Hosta and Egyptian Lotus, and quickly followed with many more stunning designs by Judy.
After attending several retreats at the Quiltworx Retreat Center in Montana, Julie recognized that every quilter who enjoys or would like to learn paper-piecing should learn Judy’s stream-lined and time-saving techniques. Armed with a passion to introduce Judy’s world of possibilities to fellow quilters, she began her journey toward becoming a Quiltworx Certified Instructor in 2021. Now, as a Quiltworx Certified Instructor, Julie would love to join you on your journey as you learn all the tips, tricks, methods and techniques she has learned over the past few years.
When Julie isn’t sewing, quilting, long-arming or teaching, she spends time with her husband, four grown children, five grandchildren and two fur babies. She currently lives in the Florida panhandle but loves to travel the U.S., with her husband and sewing machine in tow, and she would love to visit you!
