Quilting began for me in 1999 and teaching in 2003. Focusing mainly on beginning quilters, I was privileged to teach in the Beginner’s Room at International Quilt Festival for 12 years. In 2012 I became a Certified Instructor for Judy Niemeyer Quilting / Quiltworx.com. The Greater Houston Metropolitan area is my home teaching area. I also teach in Conroe, Bryan / College Station, Texas, and Traverse City, Michigan. Guild lectures and workshops in Texas, Oklahoma,
Louisiana, New Mexico, Michigan, and Florida round out my teaching experience.
Teaching became a full time endeavor in August, 2014, when I retired from “my day job.” I am passionate about teaching and love helping students to “find their rhythm” (paper piecing).
During the span of my quilting career I have had the opportunity to learn from renowned instructors / designers including Jan Krentz, Judy Niemeyer, Joen Wolfrom, Gail Garber, Gloria Loughman, Judy Mathieson, Jacqueline de Jonge, and Helen Frost. Becoming a Certified Instructor for Judy Niemeyer Quilting / Quiltworx.com in 2012 focused my teaching to mainly paper piecing “the Judy way,” some traditional piecing techniques, and color theory.
I have been fortunate to have several of my Quiltworx.com quilts accepted into multiple international and national shows, including AQS shows in Knoxville, Des Moines, and Grand Rapids, IQA’s International Quilt Festival in Houston, NQA show in Columbus, Ohio, Northwest Quilting Expo in Portland, Oregon, the California State Fair (First in Class and Best of Division), and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (Judge’s Choice, First in Class, and Best of Division).
Additionally, annual donation quilts have raised over $45,000 for various charities including the five military service academies, various churches, and the Blanco County Library.
