My name is Cordula Ermler. I live in northern Germany, in Mölln – not far from Hamburg.

From a very young age I did all kinds of crafts, like knitting, chrocheting and embroidering.
35 years ago I started sewing – at first clothes for my children and myself.
Since 2009 I’ve been sewing almost exclusively patchwork and since then I’ve already completed a lot of patchwork work in a wide variety of techniques. My favorite thing to do is foundation paper piecing, though it fascinates me as accurately the most difficult pattern can be sewn with this method

I have attended several courses, including by Claudia Pfeil, Bernadette Mayr, Jacqueline de Jonge and Handi Quilter.

In 2014 I turned my hobby into my job and opened my shop CoRo`s Patchwork & Nähdesign. Since July 2017 I also run an online shop.
I sell fabrics and instructions, sew and design my own quilts – also for patchwork magazines – and give sewing and patchwork courses for adults and children.

Many of my class participants are impressed by Judy Niemeyer quilts, but do not dare to sew one themselves. The English instructions, which they do not dare to approach, are a major obstacle.

I want to take my students’ fears away from making these quilts and show them, that anyone who has ever sewn on paper and worked with precision, can make their own Judy Niemeyer quilt. In my current course program I have included some pattern from Judy Niemeyer, in which I would like to teach my course participants the techniques in German to take away their fear.

In order to inspire even more quilters for Judy Niemeyer quilts, I like to be a certified shop owner and also a certified instructor. This give me more opportunities to bring the techniques of Judy Niemeyer quilts closer to quilters in German-speaking countries.

My first quilt based on a pattern by Judy Niemeyer was the Glacier Star. I had seen this in the exhibition in Birmingham and bought this as my first pattern from Judy Niemeyer.
In September 2021 I attended a retreat with Ada Honders from Patchwork Promotions for the first time and sewed the Coral Reef. Since then I have sewn Poinsettia, Prism Table Runner, Water Melon Placemats, the Mariners Compass, the Pineapple and much more.
I especially enjoyed sewing Judy Niemeyer pattern and like to teach these pattern.
If you live to far away, I‘ll come to your quiltgroup or your favourite quiltshop.
