2-day Desert Sky Quilt day 2

Desert Sky Quilt by Quiltworx, March 22-23, 2024 (Friday 10 am – 4:30 pm, Saturday 10 am – 3:30 pm)
Fee: $100. (Supplies purchased separately, prior to the class.)
Ready for a fun, small, beginner Quiltworx project? You’ll definitely want to make the Desert Sky 48″x54″ quilt with Quiltworx/Judy Niemeyer Certified Instructor, Carin Brimley.
As one of our most popular patterns for beginners, the Desert Sky is routinely updated to match current fabric collections on the market. The cover samples for this re-release of the pattern were designed by Judel Niemeyer in Quiltster with Expressions Batiks from Riley Blake Designs. A sewing technique called foundation paper piecing is used when sewing the pieces onto the foundation units. Curved piecing and traditional piecing are required to join the units after the foundation piecing is completed.
To make a Twin Size Quilt, you will need 1 extra foundation package. The layout could either be 9 x 12 (68” x 87”) or 9 x 13 (68” x 93”). You will need 10 additional solid squares to complete the layout to those required in the original pattern.
To make a Queen Size Quilt, you will need 2 extra foundation packages. The layout could either be 12 x 12 (87” x 87”) or 13 x 13 (93” x 93”). You will need at least 15 and up to 20 additional solid squares to complete the layout to those required in the original pattern.
To make a King Size Quilt, you will need 2 or 3 extra foundation packages. 2 packages and 30 additional solid squares will get you to (107” x 107”), a 15 x 15 block layout. If you don’t want 30 solid squares, you will need to purchase a 3rd package.
The pattern uses basic paper piecing techniques that can be applied to many of our projects. Skill Level: Confident Beginner (must know how to use a sewing machine)
This is a GREAT introductory pattern for learning how the Quiltworx/Judy Niemeyer projects are made. PERFECT for BEGINNERS at foundation paper piecing.
