About Our Shop
Sandy’s Fabrics was established in 1977 by Sandy Votaw in a modest 400-square-foot space, shared with an Elna Sewing Machine Dealer. Sandy’s passion for sewing and creativity quickly turned her vision into reality. By 1981, she had purchased the Elna dealership, founding Sandy’s Fabrics & Machines. She continued to grow the business by introducing White Sewing Machines and Husqvarna Viking Sewing Machines into her offerings, laying the foundation for a legacy of quality and service.
In 1997, Sandy’s husband, Frank, retired from Hanford and joined her full-time in the business. Together, they expanded further by adding Brother and Pfaff Sewing Machines to their lineup, while also broadening their inventory to include quilting and garment fabrics. After 35 years of dedicated service to the Tri-Cities, Sandy and Frank retired in 2012, entrusting their cherished business to Ed and Karen Jarrett.
Ed and Karen brought decades of experience from their ownership of Morrow’s Sewing & Vacuum Center in Bend, Oregon. Karen’s passion for sewing education brought a new level of excitement to the community, and the Jarretts were proud to continue building upon Sandy’s foundation.
After nine fulfilling years and two grandchildren, Karen retired, and Ed “tried” to join her in retirement, passing the reins of Sandy’s Fabrics & Machines to their daughter, Elizabeth, in 2021. Elizabeth, having grown up in the business as a “shop kid,” has been managing the store since 2014. Her dedication to preserving Sandy’s legacy and enhancing the customer experience drives the store’s ongoing success.
Today, Sandy’s Fabrics & Machines is proud to be the largest independent dealer of sewing, embroidery, quilting supplies, and fabrics in the Tri-Cities area. Our mission is to grow a vibrant crafting community by providing education, celebrating traditions, and inspiring creativity.
